So this happened…

I’m really excited to finally be starting a blog. I have thought about it for years, and finally decided to take the plunge. While I’m not a good writer, interesting, funny or talented I will try my best not to bore you. I promise to not write about what I had for lunch, the latest episode of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, or how long I sat in traffic (unless the 2014ATLsnowpocalypse that happened here last week happens again and I am forced to walk 25 miles home).

With that said, there’s no real “theme” to this. I have a million hobbies and interests so I’m going to try and document what I think may be slightly intriguing.

You may be wondering about the title Not For Nothing, Y’all…I wanted to incorporate a little bit of the North and the South. For those who do not know, the phrase “Not for nothing” is a Northern phrase with several usages.
1. before saying something that may come on a little too strong/offensive but is “typically” meant with good intentions. (“Not for nothing but you should not wear that tonight”)
2. before you say something to emphasize its importance/significance (“Not for nothing, I’m breaking up with you”)
There are a few other ways to use this but those are probably the most common. I think the phrase is hysterical but I don’t think that I’ve ever actually used it before. The last part is pretty self explanatory…y’all. The Southern plural for a group of people. Also a word that I promised myself that I would never use when we moved to Georgia in the late 1990’s. It is now a highly used word in my vocabulary.

I’ll keep this post short and sweet. Just a little introduction to what I plan to do.

And just for a good laugh, I’ll tell you that getting this whole thing up and running has taken me 8+ hours – which is hilarious if you know that I am a Software Engineer (also please excuse & continue to excuse my awful spelling and grammar – those have never been my strong points in life).
